Daniel J. Keniry is the Senior Vice President of Government Relations for TIAA-CREF, a national financial services organization dedicated to those who work in the academic, medical and cultural fields. Dan manages state and federal government advocacy efforts, as well as public policy development for the organization. In this capacity, he is responsible for relations with Congress, the White House and federal government agencies and officials, and leading public policy activities in Washington. He also manages a team of state government relations professionals and directs advocacy efforts with state legislatures, governors, treasurers and insurance commissioners.
Dan joined TIAA-CREF from the White House, where he served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and the Administration's principal liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives. Before joining the White House staff in 2001, Dan served as Senior Floor Assistant to U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Dennis Hastert. From 1997 to 1999 he served as Staff Director of the House Committee on Rules for then-Chairman Gerald Solomon following four years as a Rules committee staff member. Dan began his career in the Office of Presidential Personnel in the first Bush administration. A native of Halfmoon, New York, Dan holds a B.A. from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
Dan is a candidate for a master’s degree in American History at the Catholic University of America. He and his wife Margaret live in Arlington, Virginia and have one son, Silas.
